AND
SUPERVISORS/TRAINEES/HIGHER DEGREE STUDENTS
1. NATIONAL REGISTRATION

Please note that in late April/early May 2010 you will be receiving correspondence from the Psychology Board of Australia advising you about the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme and your new obligations under the National Law. You will also be asked to update your details with the SA Board prior to implementation and this office will process this information.

This office, however, cannot answer any questions about the National Scheme as the staff are not trained to do so. Enquiries about the scheme can be directed to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) http://www.ahpra.gov.au

2. SUPERVISORS/TRAINEES/HIGHER DEGREE STUDENTS

From 1 July 2010, subject to the passage of legislation in South Australia, all individuals undertaking the 4+2 (supervised practise) or higher degree pathways leading to general registration will be required to be registered as provisional psychologists under the National Law.

Please download the Registration Requirements under the National Law Registration Requirements under the National Law for 4+2 and psychology higher degree students.

The Board is writing to all trainee psychologists accordingly and the 3 Universities have been asked to notify their students of the new requirements.

Supervisors are asked to pass this information on to the trainees under their supervision.
